Parish Nurses

Parish Nurses are any registered nurse that is a member of a congregation, regardless of faith or religious affiliation, that has completed all of the Parish Nursing curriculum.  Parish nurses act as a vital link between the faith and medical communities.

The roles of a Parish Nurse include*:

· Integrator of Faith and Health

· Health Educator

· Health Counselor

· “Navigator” or “Advocate”

· Referral Agent

· Developer of Support Groups

· Trainer of Volunteers

The Parish Nurses are focusing their efforts in improving access to quality health services for the residents of Logan County, by expanding the number of congregations and persons served.

The Parish Nurses will provide up to $100 for Parish Nursing Classes, for any registered nurse that is interested in becoming a Parish Nurse.

Currently, Logan County is represented by 20 Parish Nurses in 10 different churches.
